The excitement has been building in you as you erect your latest addition to the backyard with pride and joy.  Your gazebo is finally complete, and now it’s time to furnish it so that you can sit and enjoy what you’ve accomplished with your garden.  However, you are unsure of exactly what items you want to include in the furnishings within your gazebo beyond the idea of garden patio furniture.  What style and materials are best for you gazebo?  It’s a difficult question you ask yourself since you may be unfamiliar with everything that is available to you, and perhaps a little guidance is in order.

You have several options, starting with something as simple as outdoor wicker furniture.  No assembly is required, and it is easy to care for, so it makes a lot of sense if you don’t have a great deal of time for maintenance.  Also, depending upon the color of your gazebo, white wicker outdoor furniture can make a great cottage-style match and appear crisp and clean.

Of course, there are many other options as well.  If you like custom wood furniture, you can build a whole deck within your gazebo, from chairs and tables to an outdoor bar and grill.  Wood is a good way to go because it is sturdy and versatile; you can stain it and paint it, and it lasts a long time.  Cedar and teak are some of the most popular woods used for patio tables and other outdoor items because they are the most weather resistant.

If it’s relaxation you seek, try Adirondack chairs, so that you can laze about in the heat and drink lemonade or watch the sun rise with your first cup of coffee.  These chairs are easy to find, quite popular, and come in a number of different colors, materials, and price ranges.  Wood will always cost more than plastic, and you’ll have to take better care of it, but if you don’t mind the plastic version, you can outfit your gazebo with several of them for a relatively inexpensive price.  Another lazy day option is to seek out antique rocking chairs, which can be restored and look amazing on the deck of your gazebo, as well as providing the ultimate comfort for your relaxation.

When you’ve chosen your furniture, think about accessories, and be sure to hang a couple of bird feeders around the overhang so that you can bird watch as you relax and enjoy the outdoors that surrounds you.  As you get used to spending time in your gazebo, you’ll find more and more knick-knacks and décor to add, but getting the furniture right is the most important part, since it is the space you’ll be inhabiting most frequently.  Think hard on it, and make the right decision.
